I’ve found there are a couple of sure-fire cures for grief. The first is white-hot, brain-melting rage. (Thank you, John “She Was In Remission” Edwards.) The second is furry little critters. We took Moishe to the vet yesterday for an ear infection, and hilarity ensued. Also fear, since I was hiding behind PeePeeBear who at the same time was backing into a corner. Oh Moishe. I fear and love you all at once.

So, this is what I came home to last night.
Yep. That five-alarm blaze in Mt. Pleasant was on my block. It took me a while to figure out that the fire was dangerously close to my building, which was eventually evacuated. This is what the blaze looked like as I was leaving:
