NYT’s Greenhouse Taking Buyout

It isn’t my beat anymore, so I missed this. From the New York Observer, Feb. 28:

“For 30 years, my internal clock has been set to the Supreme Court’s calendar, but the buyout got my attention and it’s a really good deal,” she said in an interview with Media Mob last night.

Greenhouse is a SCOTUS institution, and the subject of occasional controversy among conservative SCOTUS haters. I don’t count myself a member of that last group, but do admit I stopped reading her coverage regularly when she showed her hand on the Bush administration’s war on terror policies and on abortion. I’m not saying I agree or disagree with her positions — and never will — but knowing where her biases lay made reading her analysis — all reporting on oral arguments and opinions are ultimately analysis — a little pointless.
